On a warm, sunny day, we decided to visit Commercial Nursery Rob Beentjes to admire the beautiful long stems of the alliums. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by an abundance of purple colours that contrasted with the green. The moment we entered the fields of the nursery, it seemed we were surrounded by a sea of purple bulbs.
The masterpiece of the Allium flower
The flower of the Allium immediately attracted attention with its extraordinarily beautiful purple colour. With an impressive diameter of no less than 20 cm, formed by the confluence of 75 delicate flowers. This flower is not only a feast for the eyes, but also a true masterpiece that graces any bouquet.
A look at the Allium process
During our visit to commercial nursery Rob Beentjes, we were taken past several fields dotted with beautiful Alliums. Each field revealed a different stage of the process these flowers go through, from delicate bud to full bloom. With passion, the nursery nurtures the Alliums, ensuring they grow and bloom into beautiful flowers.
Blooming dreams: Commercial nursery Rob Beentjes
Since 2000, Rob Beentjes has been at the helm of his father’s nursery, now a thriving business specialising in Allium, Eremurus and Agapanthus. Besides growing these flowers, his company facilitates the export and retail of larger lots, but also supports small-scale growers without an auction connection.
With a smile, we bid farewell to the nursery, impressed by the beauty of the Alliums.
